The problem

For many women, homelessness remains hidden—and so does the support they need.

In Trento, the number of women experiencing homelessness rose from 211 in 2022 to 273 in 2023. Yet many avoid sleeping on the street, moving instead between temporary accommodation, unsafe situations, and informal support networks. This hidden homelessness makes them harder to reach and leaves their needs largely invisible.

Accessing help adds another layer of difficulty. Housing, healthcare, legal rights, food, employment, and social support are spread across disconnected organizations and complex procedures. At a moment of extreme vulnerability, finding the right service can become a challenge of its own.

The solution

HomeLinkHer turns AI into an instrument of sharing and caring.

HomeLinkHer brings fragmented services into one accessible mobile experience. Its AI companion, AIDA, helps women identify safe housing, understand their rights, find essential resources, and connect with relevant local organizations through personalized, location-aware guidance.

Users can interact through text or voice, explore nearby safe spaces, revisit previous conversations, and access support according to their circumstances. By bridging people, institutions, and community organizations, HomeLinkHer makes assistance easier to navigate while allowing each woman to remain in control of her journey.

The outcome

HomeLinkHer reached the national stage as one of Italy’s four Enactus finalist projects.

Representing the Enactus team at the University of Trento, we pitched HomeLinkHer in the final of the Enactus National Competition 2025 in Milan, placing among the top four projects from 15 major Italian universities.

We built the service concept, high-fidelity mobile prototype, impact model, implementation roadmap and partnership ecosystem needed to make it a credible social-innovation proposition. The pitch showed how AI could make hidden homelessness more visible and connect women with safer, more accessible support.

Following its success at Enactus, HomeLinkHer gained further visibility at the 2025 Festival dell’Economia di Trento during the panel “Innovation, Social Intelligence and New Generations.” Founded in 2006, the Festival dell’Economia di Trento is a major forum for cultural and public debate, bringing economists, Nobel laureates, policymakers, entrepreneurs and journalists to Trento every year to make complex economic and social issues clear and accessible to a broad audience.
